Synthesis and Optical Characteristics of AgO Thin Films Synthesis and Optical Characteristics of AgO thin films Fabricated by Chemical Bath Deposition Method 1EZENWA I. A., 2OBIAGAUZO P. O. 3EBEH L. N. ABSTRACT Binary thin films of silver oxide using chemical Bath method (CBD) have been grown and characterized. Absorbance spectral data of the films were obtained using a Shimadzu 1800 UV- VIS spectrophotometer. An Olympus optical microscope at 100X magnification was used to examine and produce micrograph of the grown thin, which showed that the films have crystal structure and have small grain sizes. A bandgap of 1.62eV and a refractive index range of 1.1- 2.31were obtained. INTRODUCTION Binary thin films are thin films that contain exactly two different elements. Binary thin film had been grown and characterized by many researchers for various applications, examples are; Ag2S (Ezenwa et al., 2012), FeS (Uhuegbu, 1989), ZnS (Ndukwe 1999), Ag4O3, (Bielmann et al, 2002), Silver being multivalent, have various phases like Ag2O, AgO, Ag3O4, Ag4O3, and Ag2O3 by interacting with oxygen (Bielmann, Scheallar, Ruffieux, Groning, Schlapbach, 2002).These oxides have different crystalline structures leading to a variety of physiochemical, electrochemical, electronic and optical properties. The most observable and stable phases are Ag2O and AgO (Garner and Reeves, 1954). Ag2O thin films have been widely studied due to their wide range of applications. The recent interest in silver oxide is for its potential use in optical memories. Photoactivation of silver oxide leads to nanosilver clusters (Hou, Ouyang, Chen et al 1998).These nanoclusters emit fluorescence and also exhibit plas monic behavior. These properties have a wide application range from ultra high density optical data storage to plasmon photonic devices (Tominaga, 2002).They are also used as a sensor for gas detection and photovoltaic materials, studies have shown that silver oxide films have a wide range of energy band gap of between 1.2 and 3.4eV(Dierson, Rousselot, 2005). The major routes used for silver oxide films deposition are reactive sputtering of silver metal in an oxygen-containing argon atmosphere and electron-beam evaporation of silver metal. Another method is the pulsed laser deposition technique (Raju, Kumar, 2011),this method takes place in gaseous phase, hence requiring high temperatures. These high temperature methods also limit the type of substrates used in high temperature resistant substrates. Alternatively wet chemistry and electrochemical methods have been used as low temperature method.Wet chemistry methods generally require the substrates to be dipped inside the precursor solution for days to form thin film materials at temperatures of up to 200Â °C, while electrochemical deposition grows thin film materials on conductive substrate at lower temperatures (

This magnetic moment is induced by the presence of an external magnetic field. This induced magnetic moment translates to a change in the weight of the object when placed in the presence of an external magnetic field. This induced moment may have two orientations: parallel to the external magnetic field of or perpendicular to the external magnetic field. The former is known as paramagnetism and the later is known as diamagnetism. The physical effect of paramagnetism is an attraction to the source of magnetism (increase in weight when measured by a Guoy balance) and the physical effect of diamagnetism is a repulsion from the source of magnetic field (decrease in weight when measured by a Guoy balance).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The observed magnetic moment is derived by the change in weight. This observed magnetic moment arises from a combination of the orbital and spin moments of the electrons in the sample with the spin component being the most important source of the magnetic moment. Family Identity Essay

David and Bar-Tal’s look at collective identity by incorporating a micro and macro level of research. The first level tells us the individual process of identification; which is important with the surrounding society for molding of one. There are many aspects of identification such as cognitive, motivational, and emotional. Macro is the second level it defines collective identity in a diverse way such as, a situation in which people in society identify themselves as collective and they also know there are other people that do this as well. In David and Bar-Tal’s article they claim that â€Å"collective identity† is an important implication for a group of people and its members as individuals and also as a whole; it can construct the sense of the group and how they are united together. They talk about how there is an emotional aspect of how we identify ourselves; people in a group feel attached with each other as love and care is expressed amongst them all and is shown. A family Identity I believe is â€Å"unique† and they show us that cultural beliefs, values, norms and such things make up uniqueness; a family usually is a â€Å"we† which makes it distinctive with unique characteristics. In my research paper I am going to address how â€Å"family identity† is seen as a â€Å"collective identity† and also I want to look at how a family becomes who they are, how they are not the same as each other. I first would like to explain what a â€Å"family† is. The main aspects that my paper is based on is going to be how change and family rituals can shape that identity, how a family theorizes themselves, not based on an actually theories that people assume about how they live. Lastly I will be talking about the togetherness of family- how families move and shift into different places and how families willingly spend time with each other even when there are many other better things to do in the outside world. What is a family actually? Have you ever wondered? A family is shaped by how we live our everyday lives with the members of our family; families constitute and manage their identities themselves (Epp, A & Price, L, 2008). We do not know what one is as a family, each family containes different everyday experience and consists of uniqueness within everyone. A  family is usually seen as a â€Å"we†; there may be a way to tell how a family sustains their identity and how they engage in consumption activities to manage those identities. Families build collective identity as they see it in media and what they inherit; their identity is the sense of it owns continuity over time, and the present situation and its characters. The authors Epp, A and Price, L (2008) go into figuring out exactly how family identity works; I believe that family identity builds from the day it has started and their identity does not just appear it has to be created. Change is a huge aspect of life, it can shape how we live; family rituals and traditions are abounded within change throughout lives. The value of assessing family ritual life is an aid to understanding how a family gets organized and the process of becoming an actual family. According to Giblin’s (1995) research that there if there was not any family rituals, the families were not satisfied in their marriage which would affect the kids as well. A relationship between family ritual meaning and marital satisfaction was demonstrated with good results. Families, like individuals, have identities; the family may have certain beliefs about themselves which are generally recognized and seen by others. Such beliefs may relate to the family’s achievement, career aspirations, wealth, poverty, physical appearance, communication styles or coping mechanisms. Each of these qualities or characteristics reflects the family identity (Friesen, J, 1990). Rituals are one of those things that make a family different from all the other families in the world; every family has a certain ritual or belief that they hang onto which also gets carried on throughout their generations of the family. A ritual does not have to be something that is based on one’s culture, a ritual can be something like having movie night every Friday of the month and everyone just sitting together and relaxing as family; a ritual can be as simple as that. Change can also how a families identity is, because in the place where they are known, they have a reputation that they have to live up to kind of and in a new place they have to build that again, which is an example of change like moving to a different place. Change can also be something like a divorce which is huge in a family; it can change many things throughout all the relationships that had been made already. Does one make a family based on what they have read about what a family should actually be? Specialist has their own theories about what a family should act like, but a family has their own theories about how they should work together as. Our own family and our everyday lives are by the complex intersections of many forces such as things like material health, moral and spiritual, temporal, spatial and relationship concerns (Daly, K, 2003). These concerns are both ordinary and persistent; they are not often apparent in our formal theories of families. The theories created by specialist have referred as the â€Å"elusiveness of family life†; everyday concerns such as the ones listed above are pervasive, however they are not often apparent in the formal theories created about families. There is a difference between theories that scholars create and what a family actually lives by. The author uses negative spaces to foreground the implicit theories created by scholars; negative spaces are the recessive areas that we are unaccustomed to seeing but that are every but important for the representation of the reality at hand (Daly, K, 2003). The three main negative spaces in a family include things such as the realm of belief and intuition which consists of emotions, religious and spiritual matter, the world of material things and the coordinate of time and space as means of everyday family experiences (Daly, K, 2003). Scholars theorize families differently than they actually are; on television we see examples of families that some scholars may have theorized to be the correct way of living as a family. These examples from the television can lead many of us wanting to have that kind of perfect family, and sometimes make us try too hard to create that picture-perfect family; but all we have to do is make our families the way we want them to be, not what we have seen. Families are created by people, they do not just occur. People begin a family with people they care about and also sometimes a certain place can make it easier to make a family happen. Miller, L (1995) explains that there is decline of intact families in the suburbs; once a promising place for a family to flourish, Family is not only a domestic alliance, it is a group of people that enjoy each other’s company. There doubts in many ways that the social and spatial structure of suburbia does promote family togetherness. Family was beginning to be redefined as a source of companionship and  emotional sustenance and the suburbs were a great place to begin according to Miller, L (1995). Family I believe is an alliance that creates a household to take care of its members’ basic necessities; but they are also a group of people who enjoy each other’s company. This is a vision of family togetherness, meaning that husband, wife and children choose to spend the time not c laimed by wage labor or school with one another, they prefer each other’s company instead of the things in the outside world that could be attractive. In conclusion the value of assessing family ritual life is an aid to understanding how a family gets organized and the process of becoming an actual family .A relationship between family ritual meaning and marital satisfaction was demonstrated with good results. Over the past fifty years there was no exposure to global players and competition, with the result that the Industry grew up in a sheltered environment, dependent on the Government for everything, from licenses to protection to tariffs. Each one of these interventions was aimed at securing protection for oneself and ensuring growth of one’s own organization at the cost of industry and the nation at large. Lack of global competition encouraged a â€Å"cost plus† approach, where every conceivable cost increase was passed on to the customer. There was thus no motivation to reduce costs. Explore and Evaluate Your Writing Process Once youve made the decision to work on improving your writing, you need to think about exactly what youll be working on. In other words, you need to consider how to handle the various steps involved in the process of writing: from discovering ideas for a topic, through successive drafts, to a final revision and proofreading. Examples Lets look at how three students have described the steps they typically follow when writing a paper: Before doing anything, I make sure Ive got a quiet room and a clear head. When I feel ready to work, I sit in front of my laptop and begin tapping out whatever comes to mind. Then, after taking a short walk, I read over what Ive written and pick out the things that strike me as worth keepingkey ideas and interesting details. After this, I usually go on to compose a rough draft pretty quickly. Then (maybe in a day or two, if Ive gotten an early start) I read the draft and add explanations and ideas and make some grammatical changes. Then I write it over again, making more changes as I go. Sometimes I complete the whole process in an hour or two. Sometimes it takes a week or more. I like to do my first draft on paperthat is, after Ive daydreamed for an hour or two, raided the refrigerator, and made a fresh pot of coffee. I specialize in procrastination. After running out of ways to distract myself, I start to scribble down everything I can think of. And I mean scribblewrite fast, make a mess. When I figure out what Ive scrawled, I try to fix it up into an orderly, halfway-decent essay. Then I put it aside (after making another trip to the refrigerator) and start all over again. When Im done, I compare both papers and combine them by taking some things out and putting other things in. Then I read my draft out loud. If it sounds okay, I go to the computer and type it up. In trying to put together a paper, I go through four phases. First, theres the idea phase, where I get this bright idea. Then there is the productive phase, where Im really smoking, and I start thinking about the Pulitzer Prize. After that, of course, comes the block phase, and all those prize-winning dreams turn into nightmares of this big, six-foot guy jammed into a first-graders desk and being made to print the alphabet over and over again. Eventually (hours, sometimes days later), I hit the deadline phase: I realize that this sucker has got to be written, and so I start burning it out again. This phase often doesnt start until ten minutes before a paper is due, which doesnt leave a lot of time to proofreada phase I never seem to get around to. As these examples show, no single method of writing is followed by all writers in all circumstances. Four Steps Each of us has to discover the approach that works best on any particular occasion. We can, however, identify a few basic steps that most successful writers follow in one way or another: Discovering (also known as invention): finding a topic and coming up with something to say about it. A few of the discovery strategies that can help you get started are freewriting, probing, listing, and brainstorming.Drafting: putting ideas down in some rough form. A first draft is generally messy and repetitive and full of mistakesand thats just fine. The purpose of a rough draft is to capture ideas and supporting details, not compose a perfect paragraph or essay on the first attempt.Revising: changing and rewriting a draft to make it better. In this step, you try to anticipate the needs of your readers by rearranging ideas and reshaping sentences to make clearer connections.Editing and Proofreading: carefully examining a paper to see that it contains no errors of grammar, spelling, or punctuation. The four stages overlap, and at times you may have to back up and repeat a stage, but that doesnt mean you have to focus on all four stages at the same time. In fact, trying to do too much at one time is likely to create frustration, not make the writing go faster or easier. Writing Suggestion: Describe Your Writing Process In a paragraph or two, describe your own writing processthe steps that you ordinarily follow when composing a paper. How do you get started? Do you write several drafts or just one? If you revise, what sort of things do you look for and what sort of changes do you tend to make? How do you edit and proofread, and what types of errors do you most often find? Hold on to this description, and then look at it again in a month or so to see what changes you have made in the way you write.

The font can also be adjusted to the desired level depending on the user needs. This is convenient especially for patients and staff members with bad vision. Information security and patient privacy are one of the major challenges faced by most organizations. However for our system, this is maintained by two very convenient ways. By domain authentication each and every user is located a unique address in the database. To get into his/her account, each user needs a user name and a password. The username is unique to every user and the password is generated by the users themselves (Saba, 2009). This makes it very hard for someone to get into confidential patient information without the username and the password. The other way of ensuring security and privacy is through the encryption of data in the hard drive. Data stored in the hard drive is encrypted. Encryption is where the data is stored in different parts. The data is Brocken down into unreadable parts and then stored differently. It is therefore impossible for one to read the data without having the whole parts of the data. This type of data protection is very convenient and ensures that incase of theft of a hard drive, the thief will not be able to decrypt back the data without the other pa rt of the data or the encryption code. Schoenberg and Stravinsky - Essay Example Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky thrived during this period and were greatly influenced by the aforementioned events. Their works were regarded as under the 20th century musical style which is characterized by the extreme utilization of chromatics and dissonances. Both composers explored different compositional styles and their innovations fundamentally affected latter composers and shaped the course of 20th century music. Their early works followed strict classical way. Examples of these are the string quartet composed by Schoenberg in 1897 and the Stravinsky's symphony in E major. In 1907, Arnold Schoenberg totally abandoned composing under the traditional tonal system. He proposed his new innovation the twelve tone system, a system which used tone rows as a basis of musical compositions (Lebrecht 63). This new twelve tone system is now regarded as a compositional style which is highly mathematically oriented. However, this new compositional style introduced by Schoenberg brought about a division between the followers of the two composers. The group who favored the preservation of some type of tonality became adherents of Stravinsky, while those who adopted of the twelve tone system became the followers of Schoenberg. Schoenberg used twelve tone system to their extreme while Stravinsky used a more diatonic and tonal idiom. Though they have a different perspective and compositional style, some of their works have some common characteristics. Their compositions both possess the style of neoclassicism, that is, music having transparency and clarity in the presence of dissonances. Examples of these are Schoenberg’s five piano pieces (Lebrecht 194), Op. 23 No. 1 and Stravinsky’s Histoire du soldat (Lebrecht 169).
